Scarlett Shaffer is a passionate Spanish language educator with close to two decades of experience working in education and community development in Latin America. In the spring of 2021, she relocated to Rabun County from Mexico, where she had lived and worked for 13 years in internationally certified and acclaimed schools. Her dedication to equipping students with realistic language skills for global competence, while fostering an appreciation for cultural diversity, has profoundly shaped her teaching philosophy and is informed by her personal and professional experiences in the field. Beyond the classroom, she actively contributes to various projects related to cultural preservation and diffusion in Mexico. Along with these efforts, Ms. Shaffer helps run a grant program in a Central Mexican village, providing educational opportunities to low-income students. Ms. Shaffer's drive to enrich lives through language and culture fuels her efforts in promoting language education, fostering cultural awareness, and empowering lifelong learners.
