Communications

Rabun County Schools values open, honest communication and believes in positive working relationships with all stakeholders. Well informed and involved stakeholders contribute to the success of Rabun County Schools.

Rabun County Schools utilizes numerous tools and resources to connect with our stakeholders at both the school and district level.

Outside Organization Information Distribution

To maintain consistency and ensure appropriate content, no non-school flyers may be distributed, posted, or shared within Rabun County Schools without prior approval from district administration.

Organizations, businesses, or individuals wishing to promote information must follow these steps:

  1. Submit a Request:

    • All requests must be directed to the Communications Director at the Rabun County Board of Education using this Google Form.

  2. Review Process:

    • Requests will be reviewed by the Communications Director and the Assistant Superintendent.

    • If necessary, the request will also be reviewed by the Executive Team.

    • If the flyer is intended for distribution to students, the Superintendent’s approval is required.

  3. Notification of Approval:

    • Once approved, the Communications Director will notify both the requesting organization and the appropriate school staff.

  4. Distribution:

    • The approved organization is responsible for providing printed flyers to the school(s).

    • Rabun County Schools will not create or print any materials on behalf of outside organizations.

Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring all communications shared in our schools meet system standards and expectations.

Open Records Request

Under the Georgia Open Records Act (OCGA §50-18-70 to §50-18-77), all public records are available for inspection and copying unless they are specifically exempted from disclosure under the law. If a government agency or custodian of public records withholds a public document from production under an Open Records Request, they will cite to the provision of Georgia law that exempts the record from being produced.

The school district will provide information relating to the request, as permissible and applicable by law, within three business days after it has been received. If production of the information is not possible within that time frame, correspondence will be issues with an explanation. The Open Records Act provides that RCSS may charge for the searching, gathering, production and retrieval of responsive records, depending on what records you seek. Once an estimate has been provided, the requestor will have ten (10) days to approve the estimate. Failure to do so within the specified time limit will result in the request being null and void.

All Open Records Requests must be submitted to Dr. Amy Pruitt.
