Information for Homeschool Families
The following information is provided as a courtesy to homeschool families.
A Declaration of Intent must be filed with the Georgia Department of Education within 30 days of beginning homeschooling, and annually by September 30th.

Dexter Mosley Act Information
The Dexter Mosley Act is a Georgia law that allows home schooled students to participate in extracurricular and interscholastic activities at their local public schools.

Georgia Senate Bill 63 Information
Georgia Senate Bill 63 (SB 63) mandates that local school systems in Georgia provide certain standardized tests to home study (homeschool) students in grades 6-12, if they also offer those tests to enrolled public school students. This includes tests like the PSAT/NMSQT, SAT, PreACT, ACT, ASVAB, and AP exams.
Home study students will not be required to pay a fee or meet any qualifications to register for or take any such test or exam that are not required of students enrolled in Rabun County Schools. Please note, the Rabun County School System does not administer the SAT or ACT free of charge to our students. SAT and ACT Registration is available through the College Board website.
If a parent wishes to participate in any of the assessments below, they should contact the appropriate school principal to register their child for the assessment by the date listed. The principal will then communicate specific information to the parent regarding registration and other information.

It is the responsibility of the parent to contact the appropriate school to register their child for the designated test. All requests must be made in writing by the dates listed above.
